Learning to ride on fine schoolmaster horses

Forget everything you know about traditional riding schools. Here you learn to feel, not just to put your heels down and sit up straight.

Would you like to learn to ride, get back into riding or improve your seat – but you dread the idea of dull school horses that you “have to push” or “do everything on their own”? Are you looking for a place for your child where the horse as a living being is valued?

Then you’ve come to the right place.

Why Betterhorselife is different

In many stables, school horses are often just a means to an end, running round and round in circles. With us they are teachers.

  • No departmental riding: We teach exclusively in private lessons or in very small groups. You won’t get lost in the crowd.
  • No “machines”: Our horses are biotensegral trained, fine and absolutely balanced. They respond to the smallest of aids without being over-reactive. The perfect basis for learning to ride.
  • No pressure: We pick you up at your stall and explain to you logically and calmly how your body and that of the horse work together.

The right type of riding lessons for everyone

For adults: Finally understand & feel

No matter whether you are still at the very beginninganxious about getting back on or already have a lot of experience and want to hone your seat: We’ll pick you up where you are.

Our focus:

  • Seat training: On our masters you learn to concentrate completely on your body feeling. No reins, no stress – just let go and feel. → If you like, you can also learn to ride on a neck rope only.
  • Logic & Biotensegral: You will not only learn the “how”, but also the “why”. We explain the connections between biotensegrity: Why does the horse move the way it does? How do you accompany it without interference?
    • If you are already advancedyou will learn how to improve the horse’s movement patterns – including lateral movements and flying changes.
  • Learn without fear: We take the pressure off you. You set the pace. We help you back into the saddle and always pay attention to your individual limits. At the same time, we gently encourage you to expand your comfort zone – because that’s where you’ll find the maximum learning effect and the most fun.

The goal: An independent seat and fine, clear communication. You not only learn to “accelerate and brake”, but above all to Dancing with the horse.

For children: Understanding horses - right from the start

With us, children not only learn to ride, but also to appreciate the horse as a thinking fellow creature. We don’t want to teach the use of sports equipment, but rather partnership.

  • Holistic: Grooming, leading and groundwork are just as much a part of it as riding.
  • Body awareness: Your child learns to balance their own seat in a playful way.
  • Fairness: Your child learns early on to read the horse’s language and to give the horse clear signals.
  • Safety: Your child can learn to ride with confidence thanks to our mentally balanced horses and intensive care.

Our teachers

So you know who you can trust. Our horses live in paddock trails with plenty of space, good feed and lots of social contact. They are regularly checked by the vet and have suitable equipment and, if necessary, individual hoof protection. They are happy to do this job because we treat them fairly.

Do you feel confident in the saddle? Then put your skills to the test on one of our guided trail rides directly.

Frequently asked questions about riding lessons

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, for the benefit of our horses the limit is 90 kg. If you are heavier, that’s no problem – we will be happy to work with you from the ground on your body language and fitness until the saddle calls.

Safety is our top priority. That’s why we have a strict helmet requirement for everyone – without exception. It is best to bring your own riding helmet (we also have a few helmets for hire on site). For the very first start, a well-fitting bicycle helmet is also sufficient for children. Clothing:

  • Pants: Please wear comfortable, long pants without silicone (grip), as this can damage the fine leather of our saddles.
  • Shoes: Sturdy shoes with a small heel are mandatory (so that the foot does not slip through the stirrup).
  • Vest: A safety vest is not a must, but you are of course welcome to wear it if you feel more comfortable with it.

You are welcome to watch and admire the progress, but attendance is not mandatory.

Absolutely! It is often even easier to learn it right from the start than to laboriously correct old mistakes.

Yes, this is generally possible. Please understand that we only offer a riding partnership after a few lessons in groundwork and riding lessons. We would like it to be suitable for both parties in the long term. We can discuss the scope individually – from once to three times a week, anything is possible. The price then depends on the frequency.

The booking takes place with our service provider Hopoti. You can book all of our offers there and secure an appointment directly. Click here to go to Hopoti.

If you are unable to keep an appointment, you can rebook 24 hours in advance free of charge. As we schedule your lessons including schoolmaster horse, it is not possible to change your booking at a later date.
